LET THE LION RUN FREE!

4 HIM (this is a little lively) YouTube by LifeTodayDotOrg

More from Ann Spangler's Devotional "Praying the Names of God":
"Who could have imagined God on a cross, who is a King and Servant, a Lion and a Lamb, a God whose justice is trumped by his mercy?

Aren't you glad that God's ways are not your ways and that His thoughts are as far above yours as the heavens are above the earth? Today, as you meditate on the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, let Him expand your notion of who He is and how He thinks about you. Begin by thanking Him for calling you out of the anguish and exile of sin into His loving and merciful protection."

In your PRAYER of PRAISE: Recall his great power. Psalm 106:8 Remember that the Lord is a Lion who does battle for his people. Isaiah 31:4 - 5

PRAYING WITH YOU or FOR YOU!

I recently read this "Teaching that Transforms" by Wayne Dillard from Prayer Central on

It capsulizes the attributes of prayer. I want to share them here to help you as Wayne commented to keep the pressures of life in perspective when you think or feel that you don't have time to pray. Please click & be linked to PrayerCentral to read in full. Look over this list at such a time as this and maybe you will decide that you can cut something else out of your schedule instead of prayer.
  1. POWER of PRAYER (Ps. 62:11; Ps. 68:35; Is. 40:29)
  2. PRESENCE of PRAYER (Jn 14:23; Jn.15:15; Eph. 2:13)
  3. PRIVILEGE of PRAYER (Heb.10:19-22; Mrk 11:24; Ps. 145:18-19)
  4. PEACE of PRAYER (Is.26:3; Phil.4:6-7; Romans 8:6)
  5. PRECIOUSNESS of PRAYER (Ps.139:17; Hebrews 4:14-16; Duet. 4:7)
  6. PROVISION of PRAYER ( 1 Jn.3:22; Matt. 21:22; Jn. 16:24)
  7. PROTECTION of PRAYER (Ps.91:1; Ps. 18:2; Ps.71:3)
Do you need God's peace? His power? His prosperity?

Is prayer precious to you? Enough that it's #1 on your To Do list.

Do you know someone that really could use you bringing a prayer for them here?

Since this is a place of prayer rather than just a "blog" about our journey in faith or daily diversions, I thought that people would daily stop by and offer a prayer; a prayer for a friend in need, a special prayer request, a joyful praise, a grateful heart of thanks, or just a daily greeting.

But there are just a few faithful that share here and I have to wonder: where are all the prayers? where are the prayers that people say "I'm praying for you"? How can we start our day without prayer?

I don't think that because you don't stop by here and write out a prayer or prayer request that you aren't praying but it does make me wonder what priority it takes to other tasks in the blogosphere. It does not have to be alot or a long prayer. I thank each of you who DO come here and leave a prayer. I thank God for the recent ones that have joined us. God bless you!

I encourage you to take time each day to worship Our LORD! Spend time in prayer. Drop by and leave a short prayer for someone and let them know you wrote a prayer for them over at the Lighthouse. Make it a practice to share one another's burdens. Here is a place where we can join forces.

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12

Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you." Leviticus 26:3
Let's receive these "P's" of Prayer as a value statement for our time and energies. Let them motivate us to put time with God in it's proper place, and become a witness of His peace and power.
A Lighthouse is two or more people who have agreed to reach their neighborhood, workplace, school  or in our case BLOG FRIENDS through a strategy of prayer, care, share. Anywhere you are, you can be a Lighthouse. As you live out the Lighthouse strategy to your neighbors, God will open up doors of opportunity for to share your faith -- giving them an opportunity to know Jesus Christ. Come join us & spread the word about Shining the light of Jesus by lifting a prayer to the Throne, right here with us. Thank you for sharing our hearts!
Thank you for caring to share a prayer here! Thank you for leaving your prayer or request.

THE LION & THE LAMB

KNOW HIM TODAY IN THIS WAY and PRAY

Who is He...Creation trembles at His call
Who is He...The lowly sacrifice, who paid a victims price
His name is Jesus

(chorus)
Jesus...From the Father's own right hand
Jesus...Son of God and son of man
Jesus...Who died and rose again
Jesus...He's the Lion and the Lamb

Who is He...With the power none can tame
Who is He...That every foe would fear his name
Who is he...Who was humbly led away, to suffer that dark day
His name is Jesus

(chorus)

He's the lion and the lamb

He's the Lamb that was slain
He's the Lion that reigns
My Savior and King both the same

Who is He...With the eyes that burn like fire
Who is He...Oh the wonder He inspires
Who is He...Who bore the guilt and shame
For those who've gone astray
His name is Jesus

(chorus)

Read
ISAIAH 11(click to read the entire chapter in context) and Revelation 5:5-6
I have selected verses 1-2 & 6-10 from Isaiah for focus & prayer!

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD -...

6 The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
       the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.

7 The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.

8 The infant will play near the hole of the cobra,
and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest.

9 They will neither harm nor destroy
       on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD
as the waters cover the sea.

10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious.

**********************************************

Let's PRAISE God for sending His Son Jesus, given as our sacrificial Lamb to atone for our sins, and for revealing Himself in Jesus.

Let's offer our THANKS for the Lord's lionlike care and protection! Then let's THANK the LORD for the gentleness of the Lamb, that soothingly forgives our sins as He tenderly gives us words of comfort & encouragement.

Ann Spangler, in her devotional "Praying the Names of God" shares these words from William Watley:

"Jesus as Lion and Lamb means that he has more than one way of approaching us and addressing our situation. When we have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, we don't need a lion of condemnation and judgment attacking us and ravaging our spirit. When we are already feeling like a nobody, we don't need a stern lion beating us up and making us feel worse. We need a gentle word from the Lord. We need a word of comfort and encouragement. We need the Lamb to speak tenderly and tell us, "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Justice says that we deserve a lion to slay us, but mercy says, "I'm going to send a lamb and let you know that you have another chance."

Today as you seek God's face, Praise Him for His strength and ask Him to reveal His lion like love and His fierce, protecting care. Then Confess any divideness in your heart toward doing God's will. Then remember to Thank Him for His care and protection. Ask the LORD to help you lean on His strength and protection, as you lean on the Lamb of God for His Comfort & any burdens that you need to lay at His feet today!

AFTER ALL HE'S THE LION and THE LAMB!

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
