BIBLE and PRAYER RESOURCE

I don't know if many of you know about this wonderful website and what a great source of wealth they have available: from devotionals to daily reading plans to study and web tools, audio and video, various versions of the Bible and commentaries with so much more.

The reason that I chose to share them today as we approach the New Year is doublefold. To make you aware of their site so you can choose a Daily Reading Program for this new year and to share a series of devotionals written by Bob Hoekstra, called Day by Day by Grace because since Christmas week until December 28th, he was sharing on...
PRAYER

a topic, near and dear to our hearts here at the Lighthouse of Prayer. I'm hoping that you will take time to read each of the following as a way to prepare your heart from God's Word for 2011 and be blessed by coming to the throne of God for others, as is our intention here - that we would intentionally set aside time
to meet with God and dialog, but also lift up our brothers and sisters that have need of prayer as we encounter them as we weave in and out of our daily life both REAL and VIRTUAL. Please consider coming here when you encounter a need of another, your own need, or to lift up the people on our weekly PRAYER REQUESTS/PETITIONS! You are always welcome to leave a link to someone who needs prayer or your own for prayer. You are always welcome to just come here and leave a prayer.

I wish that I could write as Bob Hoekstra has written but since I can't and I cannot share the devotionals here, I am linking you to them at Blue Letter Bible by title (click and it should take you there)

Walking in Peace
Prayers that Prevail
[source of the following prayer]

Colossians 3:15
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
since as members of one body you were called to peace.
And be thankful."

Dear God,

How I thank You for Your peace which passes all understanding and keeps my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
You keep me in perfect peace when my mind is stayed on You because I trust in You. Isaiah 26:3-4 Your peace is so precious to me. Help me to trust You always.

Your peace in my heart is the umpire that tells me what's right and wrong. I ask You, Lord to help me follow the guidance of Your peace in my heart. Colossians 3:15

Help me, in so far as it is possible, to live in peace with those outside the Body of Christ, as well as with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Romans 12:18 Don't let me make excuses for strife and unforgiveness. Help me remember it takes two to quarrel and a soft answer turns away wrath. Proverbs 15:1

Keep my tongue from evil, and my lips from speaking guile. I seek and pursue peace in  my heart. Psalm 34:13,14 Lord Jesus, You are the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 and I want to be Your follower.

Help me to be a fruit bearing Christian, Lord, one who shows forth the fruit of peace in all my relationships. James 3:18 As I learn to live in the Spirit, help me to walk in peace Galatians 5:25
with You, God, my fellow man Hebrews 12:14 and with myself. Peace is such a precious possession, and I want to guard it carefully. Teach me never to do anything that will disturb Your precious peace.

I will trust in You forever because in You there is everlasting peace and strength.

When I follow Your commandments Lord, You promise to give peace like a river, and Your righteousness as the waves of the sea. Isaiah 48:18 Because I have been justified by faith, I will always have peace with You, Father, through my Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1

Thank You Jesus for leaving Your peace with me. You have imparted You peace to me through
Your Holy Spirit and I receive it now as I pray. Because You don't give as the world gives, I know the peace You've given to my heart will keep me from ever again being troubled  or afraid. John 14:27

Your peace makes me certain of all the truth of Your Word. Thank You, Jesus.

PRAYER PETITIONS LIFTED TO HIS THRONE

"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken"
"For where two or three come together in my name,
there am I with them."
This is meant to be an interactive blog based on a comment and response system

PLEASE WRITE YOUR PRAYER, PRAYER REQUEST, PRAISE, THANKS in the place that would normally read comments after the most recent post, here it will read

"PRAYERS LIFTED TO THE THRONE of GOD."

We'd love to see your Prayer requests (Petitions) in what normally would be the comment area, where others will be supporting you through their prayers, written as a response to your petition there.

We are encouraging you all to pray whenever you read a need of someone, so please respond here with a prayer. You need not be a team member to leave a prayer for someone or bring a prayer need here. We all can lift up a prayer for each person and encourage someone, help to carry another's burden, stand with them and bless them.

The Linky asks for a blog link (BUT you need not fill that in if you don't have a blog or the person that you are requesting prayers for does not). The intention of this is so the people will go "visit" the person to encourage them or find out more about the situation. Thank you for sharing people that you find need prayer.

Thank you for lifting one another in prayer. God bless you as you pray. May His Holy Spirit fill you as you stand in the gap.

You may add REQUESTS on Linky (if there is one working) or in the comments if not... but remember NO COMMENTS ~  ONLY PRAYERS please

Sorry that the Lighthouse is not being tended currently, but the Almighty sees and hears each one of you as you come here to pray for someone or ask for prayer... HE IS HERE, HE IS WITH YOU...

It's Time to Pray

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
